Once you have passed through security, you will automatically enter Lounge 1, 2, 3 or 4. From here, you can shop, eat out at bars and restaurants, and even visit a hotel and museum.
Shopping after security
There are two parts to Schiphol.
The first part is Schiphol Plaza, which is publically-accessible. It is where you will find the train station, bus depot, taxi ranks and many shops.
The second part is the area after security. This area also has shops, as well as lounges and gates. This part is only accessible once you have cleared the standard airport security measures with your hand luggage.
Destinations determine the lounge
Lounge 1, 2, 3 and 4 at Schiphol are tailored to different types of travellers, based on their destination.
- European flights by Departure Lounge 1
- Intercontinental flights through Lounge 2 and 3
- Low-cost airlines through Lounge 4

Lounge 1 for European destinations
Lounge 1 is used by intra-European travellers. It has some of the airport’s liveliest bars and restaurants, and plenty of great shops in which to bag a bargain.
Lounge 2 and 3 for long-haul trips
Lounge 2 and 3 are both used for intercontinental travel, and are connected by Holland Boulevard. You can easily move between either for a change of scenery, and to explore different shops, bars and restaurants. There is a lot to do, see and experience – for example, an off-shoot of the popular Nemo Museum which is packed with science-based activities for children.
Lounge 4 for short trips
Lounge 4 is a little more compact than Lounge 2 and 3, but still has plenty of shops, bars and restaurants for you to enjoy.
