A future-proof power grid that gives everyone at Schiphol sufficient capacity to electrify. That’s why the Power Grid Master Plan was set up. By expanding and modernising the grid, Schiphol prevents congestion and ensures that enough energy remains available for everyone connected to the network, now and in the future. In addition, the switch from gas to electricity will lead to improved air quality for employees and local residents.

The demand for electricity is rising rapidly due to the energy transition. This ranges from electric charging and electrified airside services to the phasing out of natural gas and the ambition to reduce CO₂ emissions. At the same time, part of the current infrastructure is approaching the end of its lifespan.
Schiphol is therefore working on a comprehensive renewal of the entire network with increased transport capacity, new distribution stations, modern cable connections and better integration with the Liander and TenneT networks. Thanks to smart monitoring systems, the electricity grid can be continuously monitored and optimally utilised.
The Power Grid Master Plan consists of the following projects:
With the Power Grid Master Plan, we are investing in a reliable, future-proof and sustainable energy system for Schiphol.
