We are expanding our power grid with the new high-voltage and distribution substations. To ensure that all areas at Schiphol are supplied by these power sources, the cable connections are being upgraded.
We are already starting to lay the cable connections while the substations are being built, so that we can connect the stations immediately as soon as they are ready. Various cable connections are being upgraded across the Schiphol site.
The first cables were installed in 2023 during maintenance work on the Zwanenburg Runway. This was followed by cable installation works at the Kaagbaan Runway and the Buitenveldertbaan Runway. By 2031, all cables will be in place, ready to transport electricity from the renewed power grid.
