Choose your own time slot for security
Flying from Schiphol soon? And would you like to choose a time to go through the security check, so that you can get to your plane on time? Then book a time slot for free. You’ll be able to go through the security check at a chosen time and ensure that you don’t need to wait in the queue for long. Keep on reading to find out more about your time slot for security.
On time for your trip
When you fly, you probably start thinking about what time you need to be at Schiphol, where you need to check in and how much time you need to get to your plane days in advance. By booking a time slot for security, you know exactly when you need to be at the security check. That’s one thing for sure at least! And you can be rest assured that you won’t have to queue for long, because travellers with a time slot can join a separate queue.
How do I book a time slot?
Booking a time slot is free of charge and easy to do. You can reserve a time slot up to three days before your flight. This is how you do it:
- Go to the time slot for security page.
- Click on the ‘Book a free time slot’ button.
- Fill in the departure date of your flight.
- Select your destination, airline and flight number.
- Indicate how many people you are travelling with (your time slot is for the whole group).
- Choose one of the available time slots. Each time slot lasts 15 minutes.
- Fill in your email address and confirm your reservation.
- You receive an email confirming your time slot along with a QR code.
Security at Schiphol
Once you have booked a time slot, make sure you take the QR code you received with you on your mobile or as a printout. Upon arriving at Schiphol, you check in first. If you checked in online and only have hand baggage, you can go straight to the security check. Make sure to arrive there at the time you reserved. Go to the queue that says ‘Reserved for time slots’ and get your QR code scanned by a member of Schiphol staff. You can then go through security without a long wait.
Too early or late?
Your reserved time slot is valid for 15 minutes. If you arrive too early, we kindly ask that you wait until your time slot starts. If you arrive too late and your 15 minutes are up, we cannot guarantee that you’ll be able to make use of your time slot. But don’t panic, you can still go through security the usual way. You just may need to wait a while longer if it’s busy.
