Works on A4 from 7 to 31 May result in extra travel time
Last update: 6 May 2021, 15:38, Amsterdam
From 7 to 31 May, Rijkswaterstaat is carrying out major maintenance on the A4 motorway between the Burgerveen junction and Schiphol Airport. Will you be travelling to Schiphol during that period? Then take extra travel time into account. When it is busy on the road, this may be up to 30 minutes extra. Schiphol will remain accessible while these works are going on.
The works are taking place on and along the road towards Amsterdam, but will also cause severe traffic disruptions on the road towards Den Haag.
7 to 10 May
In the weekend of 7 to 10 May, the number of lanes available in both directions between the Burgerveen junction and De Hoek junction will be limited. The motorway between the Burgerveen junction and Den Haag will be closed all weekend, while only two lanes will remain open on the road between the Burgerveen junction and Amsterdam.
10 to 31 May
From 05:00 on Monday 10 May to 05:00 on Monday 31 May, only four of the six lanes going in both directions between the Burgerveen junction and De Hoek junction will be open. Traffic heading towards Amsterdam will be partially diverted onto a lane on the opposite side of the motorway. The maximum speed will be reduced to 70 kilometres per hour.
Alternative routes
Want to avoid congestion? You can take an alternative route, either via the A9, N207 and N205 (to and from Den Haag) or via the A9, A2 and A12 (to and from Rotterdam).
