9 September: Schiphol harder to reach due to public transport strike

From 02:00 on Wednesday 9 September to 02:00 on Thursday 10 September, there will be a nationwide public transport strike. During this period, Schiphol will be harder to reach. Only four trains per hour will run between Amsterdam Central, Schiphol and Hoofddorp. All other forms of public transport, such as metro, tram and bus, will not operate. We expect many travellers to come by car, which may lead to additional congestion on the roads around the airport.
Advice
Make sure you are well prepared for your journey and keep an eye on the latest travel updates. Make use of the trains that are still running and check the NS journey planner well before leaving home. If you want to avoid congestion around Schiphol, you can get dropped off at Amsterdam Centraal, Sloterdijk, Lelylaan or Hoofddorp and continue your journey by train from there.
If you are travelling by car, please take extra travel time and busy roads into account. Make sure you leave on time. Follow the signs and instructions from staff at Schiphol. Dropping someone off can be done quickly and easily at the Kiss & Ride or by parking at P1. Picking someone up? Please park at P1 as well. Alternatively, you can take a taxi.
