24 June: Schiphol harder to reach due to public transport strike
Last update: June 22, 2026 at 00:00, Amsterdam
On Wednesday 24 June there will be a nationwide public transport strike. As a result, Schiphol will be harder to reach in the morning. Only four trains per hour will run between Amsterdam Central, Schiphol and Hoofddorp. All other forms of public transport, such as metro, tram and bus, will not operate until 08:00. We expect many travellers to come by car, which may lead to additional congestion on the roads around the airport.
Advice
Make sure you are well prepared for your journey and keep an eye on the latest travel updates. Make use of the trains that are still running and check the NS journey planner well before leaving home. You can also use alternative transport, such as the car or a taxi.
If you are travelling by car, please take extra travel time and busy roads into account. Make sure you leave on time. Follow the signs and instructions from staff at Schiphol. Dropping someone off can be done quickly and easily at the Kiss & Ride or by parking at P1. Picking someone up? Please use P1 as well.
