News: The G-pier’s partial rejuvenation

Schiphol will renew the D-G piers in phases. It is a big job, which will be divided into several projects. Last week, a new subproject started called the G-pier Connection, which is the shorter part of the G-pier. Catering, restrooms and a work of art will be refurbished in this area.

Old G-pier situation

A major facelift

A lot of work needs to be completed to modernise this part of the G-pier. After the thorough refurbishment, there will be more shops and the Galaxy Bar will make way for a much larger catering facility – which will include a fully-fledged kitchen, large terrace and a smoking area. And new, spacious restroom facilities will arise instead of the decentralised toilets at the gates. The view will also change, due to an open facade, where the aircrafts can be admired like never before.

More space as of June 2018

More space will be needed for these extra facilities at the pier. For this reason, the offices close to the H-pier will be demolished. They were previously used by security, but they are no longer needed because of the introduction of central security. By June 2018, sub-project Connection G-pier must be completed.

The Upgrade Piers project

Travel at Schiphol will become more fun due to the Upgrade Piers project. The introduction of central security created a lot of space at the 81 gates of piers D to G. These have now been refurbished. With comfortable seating and workplaces, luxury restrooom facilities and more catering and retail options.
