Christmas trees, sparkling lights and garlands – if you come to Schiphol at this time of year you’ll see that the holiday season takes centre stage here too. But did you know that we organise various activities for our travellers over the festive period? With special celebrations, Christmassy jazz, and a visit from Santa Claus, we’re helping everyone at the airport get into the festive spirit.
Travelling through Schiphol on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day? You might be able to join a special celebration at the Meditation Centre. On 24 December, between 18:30 and 19:15, a section of the KLM orchestra will be playing music and singing Christmas carols. Afterwards, you can enjoy some stollen and hot cocoa or a mulled wine while soaking up the festive atmosphere. Travelling with children? They’re sure to be kept entertained with fun colouring pages! And at 10:00 on 25 December there’s a Christmas service followed by tea and coffee. The Meditation Centre at Schiphol is a multifaith space and everyone is welcome. You can find it on the second floor of Lounge 2.
A celebratory selfie with Santa? A cute photo of you and your loved one(s) after being reunited? A pre-holiday snap to commemorate the start of your journey? It’s all possible at Schiphol Plaza this Christmas! From 18 to 24 December, between 10:00 and 15:00, Santa Claus will be walking around Plaza with an instant camera ready to take photographs that you can take straight home with you. So strike your best pose!
Save yourself some time and hassle this Christmas with our festive gift-wrapping service! Travellers who buy gifts at Schiphol during the holiday season have the opportunity to get their items wrapped for free. Special wrapping stations will be open in Lounge 1 and 3 from 18 to 24 December, between 10:00 and 15:00. Our hosts have been professionally trained, so you can be sure of beautiful-looking presents under the Christmas tree.
We also have special treats for travellers parking their vehicle at Schiphol over the holidays. If you park at P3, for example, you may find yourself in a Christmassy shuttle bus (running from 20 to 31 December between 06:00 and 14:30, and 1 to 4 January between 08:00 and 16:30). And travellers parked at P6 can enjoy a warm cup of coffee or tea on 20, 21, 26, 27 and 28 December and 2, 3 and 4 January between 07:00 and 15:00. To top it off, a jazz band will be playing Christmas music in the walkway between the car parks and Schiphol Plaza from 21 to 26 December between 10:00 and 15:00.
