News: Mini documentary series: ‘Building the future’: About the future terminal

In our series of mini documentaries we give viewers a weekly look behind the scenes of the construction work on the new pier and terminal, and the work going on landside. Who are the building contractors, sub-contractors, architects and Schiphol colleagues involved? What do they do, what motivates them and what challenges are they facing?

Hugely adventurous, large-scale and complicated

In episode 3, we talk to the architect of the new terminal and the project manager of the Early & Enabling Works. “Apart from starting on a hugely adventurous, large-scale and complicated project, we also actually set up a new company”, says Kees Kaan from KAAN Architecten in this episode.

We also meet Kim Flinterman. As project manager she leads the projects that ensure that the building site for the new terminal is ‘function-free’. This will involve demolition, dismantling, conversions and relocations, and the repositioning of cables, roads, shops and routes.
