News: Reopening of Grand Café Plaza

What could be better than catching up with friends or family who have been travelling while enjoying a nice cup of coffee and a delicious sandwich, salad or burger? The fully renovated Grand Café Plaza, operated by HMSHost, is directly adjacent to Arrival Hall 3 and gives passengers that typically Dutch ‘welcome home’ feeling. It’s a modern grand café with a warm and homely atmosphere.

With its warm copper colours and rugged steel, the new bar forms the heart of the grand café, and its large copper beer tanks are also real eye-catchers. The design of the open kitchen, developed in collaboration with the Heineken Design Bureau, has been carried through into the atmospheric restaurant.

What's more, the menu has also been updated. Among other things, it now includes the ‘Moving Mountains’ Burger: a 100% plant-based burger that is indistinguishable from the ‘real thing’. Classics with a modern twist are also available, such as country bread with smoked ox sausage and Dutch chicken satay. For the 65,000+ people who work at Schiphol, the new grand café is an excellent location for a work lunch, drink or reception. It offers a nice selection of craft beers, cocktails and delicious antipasti platters with local specialities.

'The varied menu at Grand Café Plaza allows us to offer arriving passengers and people who are here to pick them up that welcome home feeling in a cosy, homely environment', says Ad Willemsen, General Manager of HMSHost Schiphol. 'This way, travellers can take a moment to settle down and recover from their flight in a pleasant environment before heading home.'

Irene Muysson, head of retail, food & beverage and commercial services at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol: 'In the Grand Café Plaza, you will experience that typically Dutch cosy feeling. Not without good reason, it is one of the most popular meeting places at our airport. We warmly welcome the fact that the menu now also responds to the wishes of conscious consumers.'
