Schiphol wants to create a home for world travellers, with happy travellers, airlines and employees. We want to do that while striking the right balance with the (local) environment. But we can't do that alone. We see it as a shared responsibility to provide our neighbours with the right information. That's why we regularly consult with various other organisations. This allows us to stay informed about each other's plans and activities, and ensures that you can easily find all the information you need.
Below you will find an overview of the various partners we work with and a list of interesting websites with more information about the aviation sector.
The Local Community Contact Centre (BAS) is the information point for the surrounding area and the reporting centre for nuisance reports about air traffic around Schiphol. At bezoekbas.nl, you will find useful information on various topics, such as runway use, flight paths, runway maintenance, and legislation and regulations. You can also report any nuisance caused by air traffic around our airport to BAS.
The Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) aviation authority. The ILT aviation authority is the body responsible for aviation safety and sustainability in the Netherlands. Among other things, it monitors and enforces compliance with noise and emission regulations.
Schiphol is home to partners not only from the aviation sector, but also from education and government. The Schiphol Aviation Community (LCS) brings all these parties together. By continuously working to strengthen and make the labour market more attractive, LCS increases the employability of workers and stimulates the influx of talent. LCS particularly focuses on issues that are not addressed by the regular economic market and that require cooperation between parties. LCS does this by connecting companies, regional education and regional authorities.
LVNL has been an important player in Dutch airspace for almost 100 years. They ensure the safe, efficient and environmentally conscious handling of air traffic on the ground and in the air, 24/7. At the same time, LVNL is aware that there are diverse interests at stake in the area around Schiphol. They are therefore committed to reducing the nuisance caused by air traffic in the surrounding area wherever possible.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (I&W) ensures that the country is accessible. By road, rail, water and, of course, by air. This ministry developed the Aviation Policy Memorandum 2020-2050, which describes the preconditions for the future development of aviation in the Netherlands.
The Civic Advisory Board Schiphol (MRS) advises the Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management on decisions concerning Schiphol that have an impact on the living environment. The MRS focuses on improving the quality of life in the region surrounding Schiphol and gives local residents and social organisations a voice in decision-making on aviation policy.
The Schiphol Environmental Fund (OFS) aims to improve the quality of life in the Schiphol region in the broadest sense. In this region, noise nuisance from aircraft is an important factor that determines how the community experiences the quality of their living environment. But the quality of life is not just about noise. The presence of social facilities and the quality of public spaces also play a role. The OFS therefore wants to invest in several areas of quality of life. This includes providing direct assistance to people and investing in socially relevant facilities and measures.
The Schiphol Fund supports sport and exercise and wants everyone to be able to enjoy it. That's why the fund contributes to health, vitality, integration and participation. The Schiphol Fund was established in 1994 and has since donated more than €20 million to many sports clubs in the vicinity of the airport. Would you like to know whether your sports club, foundation or sporting initiative is eligible for a donation?
In addition to the organisations mentioned above, there is a wealth of relevant information available on the internet about living in the vicinity of our airport. We have listed several websites below (some only available in Dutch).
