To make room for the construction of the new baggage basement, several works are currently being carried out. We have relocated catering outlets, service points and shops in recent months so that the BC corridor - the current route between Pier B and Pier C - can be closed to passengers. Since Wednesday 25 September, passengers have been using a new route when walking from piers B to C: the new BC link.
We have worked hard over the past few weeks to get the new link ready. We have tackled the moving walkways, the electrical systems have been put in order, and media and art displays have been installed. We will complete the work on the retail outlets in the spring of 2025.
By starting initial site work now, we are ensuring that we will soon have space to build the new baggage basement. We expect the final design to be completed by mid-2026, after which we can begin construction of the baggage basement. With the construction of the new basement we are ensuring that, in addition to operational continuity, the working conditions of baggage employees will be further improved.
While constructing this new baggage basement, we are keeping in mind that a new terminal may be built on top of it. The construction of the terminal has not yet been decided. To keep the option open though, an integral design is being made.
