News: The Schiphol Fund helps sports clubs, scouts and schools

Sports equipment, windows for a scout group’s new tug boat and playground equipment for schools – there was cause for celebration at several sports clubs, scout groups and schools in the area around Schiphol even before the Feast of Saint Nicholas had begun. They all received donations towards their various sporting initiatives. Sport and play connect people, and that’s something the Schiphol Fund gladly contributes to.

Balls in Alphen aan den Rijn, Castricum and Weesp

The American football players at Alphen Eagles are getting new balls and the table tennis enthusiasts in Castricum can now play on new competition tables. It’s balls galore in Haarlem and Weesp at Haarlemsche Football Club Eendracht Doet Overwinnen and FC Weesp, where there are now more possibilities for the youngest and oldest players thanks to a Schiphol Fund donation. And the Leimuiden tennis association can replace the old court lighting with LED lights, therefore ensuring that their tennis balls are visible at night too.

Fun and games in Hoofddorp, Velsen, IJmuiden and Rijnsaterwoude

Jeugdland in Hoofddorp is a safe place where children between the ages of 6 and 15 can build, play and discover. They received a donation for a playhouse. De Rozenbeek primary school in Velsen will be getting an agility parcours for their playground. And primary school pupils at De Kinderarcke in Rijnsaterwoude will soon be able to play on a 1000-number grid, a balance parcours and monkey bars.

Surf skiing and rowing in IJburg, Lisse and Haarlem

Have you seen a surf ski before? It’s a long kayak with which you can ‘surf’ waves on open water. You can give it a try at Kano op IJburg, which received a donation to buy a surf kayak. Rowing association Iris in Lisse can now purchase a new boat that is suitable for both new recruits and old club members, as well as people with a disability. Sloeproeivereniging Haarlem will be rolling up their sleeves this winter; the donation they received for construction kits means they can build their own boats.
