News: Maintenance on Buitenveldertbaan Runway

From Monday 3 July to Tuesday 11 July 2023, the Buitenveldertbaan Runway will be undergoing routine maintenance works. Because the runway is unavailable at this time, the Schiphol-Oostbaan can also be deployed for landings. This may be the case where there’s a strong (south)westerly wind or when poor visibility hinders the approach towards the Polderbaan and Zwanenburgbaan runways. In situations where the Buitenveldertbaan Runway would normally be used, another runway may be used instead during this period.

Repairs, cleaning and grass cutting

As part of these maintenance works on the Buitenveldertbaan Runway, we will be carrying out minor repairs on the runway where necessary. We will also be cleaning the lights, checking the cables and electrics, and mowing the grass around the runway. Furthermore, we’ll be flushing out the runway’s drainage system. Because the Buitenveldertbaan won’t be available to air traffic during this period of works, we will also be able to check the surrounding taxiways and adjust the signage. We are carrying these works out in collaboration with construction company Heijmans.
