Electricity for aircraft
Stationary aircraft normally use their kerosene-driven auxiliary motors or a diesel-powered generator to supply electricity and climate control. To reduce this, we equipped 73 aircraft stands with installations for Fixed Electrical Ground Power (400 Hz) and pre-conditioned air units.

Ground Power Units run on electricity rather than diesel
Aircraft parked at a spot where there is no shore power get electricity from a mobile Ground Power Unit (GPU). There are seven electric-powered GPUs in use at Schiphol, on Pier D. These electric GPUs replace diesel-powered ones and therefore reduce the airport's CO₂ emissions.
