News: Start consultation new noise system Schiphol

The public consultation procedure for the new noise regime for Schiphol started on 2 March. The new system prescribes that Schiphol should use the take-off and landing runways that cause the least disturbance to the surrounding area, given the circumstances (weather and visibility, for example). The new Airport Traffic Decree lays down the environmental limits and the rules for runway use.

Airport Traffic Decree

The Airport Traffic Ruling includes several new elements that will help maintain the quality of the network and improve the quality of the living environment:

  • The restriction on the number of night flights at Schiphol will be tightened from a maximum of 32,000 night flights per year to 29,000;
  • The total number of flights will recover in phases over the coming years to 500,000 aircraft movements.

From Tuesday 2 March to Monday 29 March 2021, you can submit your views on the draft amendment to the Schiphol Airport Traffic Decree and the related environmental impact assessment. You can do so via this website.
