News: Maintenance work on Runway 18R-36L

Runway 18R-36L has been closed due to emergency repair work. Damp has been discovered under one of the taxiways, which has caused damage to the asphalt and needs to be repaired. This is expected to take until Monday, 23 July, depending on progress in the repair work. Since we will therefore be making more use of the other runways (09-27, 18C-36C, 18L-36R and 06-24), local residents under these flight paths are likely to experience more noise. We very much regret this and are doing our best to complete the repairs as quickly as possible.

Which areas are affected?

On the figure below, you can easily see which areas will be affected by increased noise. Together with runway 06-24, runway 18R-36L is one of the most frequently used because they cause the least noise. However, when we are unable to use either of these runways, this unfortunately results in more noise for the local community.

When will the work be completed?

This is an exceptional situation that was not foreseen. We expect the repair work to be completed by Monday of next week and for runway 18R-36L to reopen in the course of that week. This will depend on the decision made by Air Traffic Control the Netherlands (LVNL). The runway cannot be opened until full clearance has been given and everything is safe. Keep an eye on this website for updates and the latest situation.
