Construction work on the site for the Soil Treatment Facility for PFAS‑contaminated soil at Tweeduizend El is in full swing. If everything goes according to plan, contractor BAM will hand over the site this spring, allowing DEME to begin assembling the Soil Treatment Facility.
Over the past few months, BAM has been working on installing underground pipelines, the closed sewer system, and the sludge basin. At the end of November 2025, they began pouring the concrete for the large liquid‑tight floor (see images). In addition, the finishing of the water basins is still on the schedule. Due to weather conditions, they could not yet be lined.

Since December 2025 we have stopped using Storage Site 1, also known as TTOP1, for storing PFAS‑contaminated soil. TTOP1 is now fully designated as part of the “circular hub” for recycling construction materials. Before the former TTOP1 storage area can be fully repurposed for the circular hub, a final soil investigation was carried out. This is standard procedure before and after contaminated soil has been stored in a location. The conclusion of the soil investigation is that the soil quality has not been negatively affected by the storage activities.
In accordance with the agreement with the Dorpsraad Badhoevedorp, we monitor the groundwater at the storage sites. The first report dates from August 2025. In Appendix 4 of this report, the reference date was listed as September 2025, but this should be 2024. The report with the corrected date in Appendix 4 is available on the PFAS website. This month (February 2026), the next monitoring round is scheduled.
