Permits: The application process
Determining which permits are needed and the subsequent application process depends on which party is commissioning the work in question. Below are the steps that must be taken in each situation, and by whom.
Schiphol is not the party who has commissioned the work
To determine which permits are needed, you should send the completed ‘Centraal Meldpunt Vergunning’ (central permits contact point, CMV) question sheet by email to the Schiphol CMV (vergunningen@schiphol.nl). You will find this sheet at the bottom of this section. The CMV decides whether a face-to-face meeting, at which you will be invited to explain your project, is necessary. If no face-to-face meeting is needed, the CMV will send an email. Whether at the face-to-face meeting or by email, you will receive a list of the permits that are required for your work activities.
You will be advised, at the face-to-face meeting or by email, as the case may be, about the next steps you should take regarding your application for the required permits. It is your responsibility to carry out these steps; in other words, you yourself must apply for all the required permits. Some permits must be applied for to Schiphol, and others to the relevant competent authority. To apply for certain permits that are specific to Schiphol, you should request the creation of a Schiphol account. You will receive more information about this at the face-to-face meeting or in the email.
Permit applications that are submitted to Schiphol will be assessed by specialists from the relevant departments at the airport. You will be informed, within the agreed period of time, whether your application for a permit has been approved or rejected. However, you may also receive a request to provide more or more detailed information.
You may only begin work after all the required permits have been granted (by the relevant competent authority and by Schiphol). While carrying out the work, you must adhere to the agreements and preconditions to which the permits are subject. Schiphol reserves the right to monitor this.

You will be informed at the face-to-face meeting or by email whether the permit you require is internal or external, and of the relevant contact information (for each permit you require).
When applying for an external permit, you must supply the required information and documents to the relevant Schiphol permits coordinator. The permits coordinator then submits the application to the relevant competent authority. After being submitted, the applications are assessed by the competent authority. You will be informed by the permits coordinator, within the agreed period of time, whether your application for a permit has been approved or rejected. However, you may also receive a request to provide more or more detailed information.
If you require one or more internal permits, you will be allocated a permits advisor by Schiphol. The permits advisor will apply for the internal permits on your behalf. After being submitted, the applications are assessed by Schiphol specialists. You will be informed by the permits advisor, within the agreed period of time, whether your application for a permit has been approved or rejected. However, you may also receive a request to provide more or more detailed information.
