Sustainability vision
Royal Schiphol Group’s airports connect the Netherlands with the world. They are places where journeys begin and where people return home. We are proud of that. At the same time, we are aware of the impact that aviation has on the climate and the environment. That is why, at Royal Schiphol Group, we work every day to reduce emissions and noise nuisance, and to use energy and raw materials more efficiently. We want to continue connecting people, whilst minimising our impact and striking a balance with the environment, people and the local community.
We are doing this step by step. With clear targets for 2030, ambitions for 2050, concrete measures and visible results. We are joining forces with partners, employees and the local community to reduce our impact. Because we can only make aviation more sustainable by working together.
We are focusing on four themes: the circular economy, energy, aviation and social impact. Each theme has a specific goal.
By 2030, we will reduce our own CO₂ emissions and emissions of ground operations by at least 90%
By 2050, we aim to be net-zero in relation to our indirect emissions in line with the Paris Agreement
We mitigate negative impacts of airport related operations to be in balance with human and nature
By 2030, we aim to reduce ~10% CO₂ emissions for construction and operational streams
