Schiphol has joined two initiatives launched to mark Amsterdam's 750th anniversary. Curious what they are? We're happy to explain.
Last year, Amsterdam celebrated its 750th anniversary. To emphasise our strong bond with the capital, travellers leaving our airport during that period saw a message congratulating the jubilarian on a large screen at Jan Dellaertplein.
This week marked the end of the anniversary year, and the city received two final gifts. The first was the announcement of the Nieuw Amsterdams Verbond (NAV). This association brings together businesses, funds, wealthy Amsterdammers, and social initiatives. Schiphol is proud to be one of the first corporate partners of the NAV. Over the past year, we have already participated in substantive meetings, meetings with social initiatives, and the official members' meeting.
A second initiative launched during the closing event is Amsterdam in Motion. This huge scale model, which shows Amsterdam's development over the past 750 years, was opened by Mayor Femke Halsema. Schiphol is proud to have contributed to this as well.
