NATO Summit 2025: what does this mean for the Schiphol region?

On 24 and 25 June, the Netherlands is hosting the NATO Summit 2025 in the World Forum The Hague. During this summit, our country will welcome dozens of heads of state, ministers and thousands of delegation members. Schiphol has been designated as the arrival and departure point for these guests. This involves additional measures, which may also be noticeable in the surrounding area.

What can you expect in the area?

Changes in air traffic:

The Polderbaan Runway will temporarily be used for parking government aircraft and will therefore not be available for regular air traffic. At the same time, the Buitenveldertbaan Runway is out of use due to maintenance (10 May to 28 September). This means that other runways will be used more intensively, which may lead to increased or atypical air traffic and possible nuisance in certain parts of the region.

Traffic measures in the area:

From 17:00 on Sunday 22 June until 05:00 on Friday 27 June, roads and motorway exits in the region may be temporarily (partially) closed, especially on the A5, A4, A44 and N44. This may affect accessibility to Schiphol and surrounding municipalities.

What can you do?

As a resident of the Schiphol region, you may experience some inconvenience. We understand that this can be frustrating, especially in an area that already deals with regular air traffic.

Please allow for potential traffic congestion and extra travel time to and from Schiphol between 22 and 27 June.
