Reusable cup trial in Lounge 4
Starting February 3, we will be trialling reusable cups in Lounge 4 at Schiphol for one month. We’re doing this in collaboration with Avolta and Vermaat. At STACH, Urban Food Market and Urban Beans, you can temporarily purchase your (hot) drink in a reusable cup for a €1 deposit.
After use, you can return the cup to one of the seven deposit machines in Lounge 4 and along the walkways to the gates. The deposit will be automatically refunded to your bank account. The machines are recognisable by the cup icon with reuse logo.

Schiphol produces approximately 13,000 tonnes of waste annually, of which around 70% comes from activities at the airport itself. To gain a better understanding of our waste streams, we regularly conduct research and work with partners to reduce waste. Coffee cups are among the top five most common waste streams at the airport.
With this trial, we are investigating whether reusable cups work well for travellers and contribute to reducing waste at Schiphol. Our goal is for 90–95% of reusable cups to be returned, after which we can clean and reuse them.
