From Monday 18 September to Sunday 1 October, the Schiphol-Oostbaan Runway is unavailable due to maintenance. We generally use this runway for small, business and private planes, aircraft with societal interest (ambulance, coastguard, government) and aircraft that need to be on the Schiphol-Oostbaan specifically (to carry out maintenance, for example). During this period of maintenance, air traffic will make more frequent use of the Buitenveldertbaan Runway or one of the other runways.

Repairs and cleaning
This maintenance, that we are carrying out in collaboration with construction company Heijmans, includes working on the asphalt, runway markings and runway lighting. We'll be repairing the Schiphol-Oostbaan where necessary and cleaning the lights. We're also going to check the cabling and electricity as well as mow the grass around the runway. If necessary, we'll also flush out the runway's drain system.
Which runway is being used?
Curious about which runway the smaller aircraft and business air traffic will make use of during this period? It all depends on a variety of factors, including the weather (showers, wind force and direction) and the availability of the other runways. For questions about the use of runways during runway maintenance, you can contact the Local Community Contact Centre (BAS). Take a look at their website bezoekbas.nl or call 020 601 5555.
