News: Schiphol-Oostbaan Runway under maintenance

The Schiphol-Oostbaan Runway will not be available from Monday 14 November to Friday 18 November and on Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 November due to maintenance. This means that the small, business and private planes and other air traffic that normally use this runway will have to rely on another runways. The Buitenveldertbaan Runway is expected to be slightly more in use as a result.

Runway in use in the weekend

During the weekend of 19 and 20 November, the Schiphol-Oostbaan Runway will be in use as usual. Maintenance work will only continue after the weekend. This happened earlier during maintenance work on the Kaagbaan Runway. Again, this is due to a shortage of electrotechnical specialists to carry out the work and employees who need to supervise it because of safety regulations. Therefore, the runway will still be under maintenance on Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 November, as these staff will be available.

Repairing asphalt, cleaning lights

In collaboration with Heijmans, we are working on the asphalt, markings and lighting of Schiphol-Oostbaan Runway, among other things. We are repairing the runway where necessary, doing minor fixes and cleaning lights. We are also checking cables and electricity and mowing the grass around the runway. If necessary, we flush out the rainwater drainage system.

Which runway is in use?

Which runway is in used for small, business and private planes during the period of maintenance works? This depends on a variety of factors, including the weather (showers, wind speed and direction) and runway availability. If you have any questions about runway maintenance, please contact the team at the Local Community Contact Centre (BAS). Visit bezoekbas.nl or call them on 020 601 5555.
