News: Scheme to insulate your home against aircraft noise

If you live close to Schiphol, it can help to insulate your home in order to reduce the aircraft noise you hear inside. But that is a major investment. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management is currently preparing the Regeling gevelisolatie Schiphol 2023 (Schiphol Insulation Scheme 2023). You can give your opinion on it until 5 February 2023.

Published on: 19 January 2023

What does the scheme entail?

The scheme aims to apply certain measures to homes located inside the 60 dB noise contour (the areas inside the blue lines) so that outside noise can be blocked more effectively. This can include sealing cracks, installing thicker glass or double-glazed windows, and improving roof insulation. The scheme is for homes that have not been insulated as part of earlier noise insulation schemes.

When does the project start?

You can give your opinion on the scheme until 5 February 2023. After that, the scheme will be finalised and Rijkswaterstaat will approach homeowners that live inside the 60 dB noise contour. If your house is eligible, you can expect to receive a letter from Rijkswaterstaat this summer.
