News: Polderbaan Runway unavailable due to maintenance from 23 until 29 September

The Polderbaan Runway will be unavailable due to maintenance from Monday 23 September at 06:00 until Sunday 29 September at 17:00. The Buitenveldertbaan and Zwanenburgbaan Runways will be used instead for flights in a northerly direction during that week. You may experience more noise disturbance than usual during that week if you happen to live under the flight paths to and from these runways.

What will happen during runway maintenance works

Asphalt will be replaced and track markings will be replaced, if necessary, during the maintenance on the Polderbaan Runway. Track lighting will be checked, and any old lights will be replaced with sustainable LED lighting. Rubber will also be removed from the tracks. Every time a plane lands, a small amount of rubber is deposited on the runway tracks by the tires. This effects the runway quality by making it less rough. After several-thousand flights, the rubber needs to be removed. We will work 24-hours a day to ensure that the Polderbaan Runway is ready for use once again.
