For the next two weeks, the Zwanenburgbaan Runway will not be operational from Monday to Friday between 14:00 and 23:00 due to maintenance works. We expect this to have little impact on the aircraft noise for the residential area as the Zwanenburgbaan Runway has hardly been used these past few weeks.

Operational in the morning
The maintenance will take place from Monday the 20th to Friday the 24th of July, and from Monday the 27th to Friday the 31st of July. Work will be carried out on the cabling of the runway lighting. The Zwanenburgbaan Runway may be deployed in the morning and at weekends. The runway has not been used much in recent months because of limited air traffic due to the coronavirus crisis. In the first two weeks of July, the Zwanenburgbaan Runway was used for around 10 to 20 flights per day. The decision to carry out the maintenance earlier than planned was made in order to minimise any inconvenience to local residents.
Works 17th - 28th August
Works will be carried out on the Zwanenburgbaan Runway in August. The runway will not be available between the morning of Monday 17th of August and the afternoon of Friday 28th of August. This means that the Buitenveldertbaan Runway can be used more frequently as a second runway at peak landing times when there is a southerly or south-westerly wind. The Buitenveldertbaan Runway may be used as a second runway at peak take-off times when there is a northerly wind. Which runway is actually used during this period depends on the wind and weather conditions at the time.
