Schiphol’s Customs Officers are busy with daily freight transport between the Netherlands and the rest of the world. The new TV show De Douane in Actie (‘Customs in Action’) lets viewers know what customs does, what happens to illegal baggage that is intercepted and will give a rare glimpse behind the scenes. De Douane in Actie will be shown on RTL5 every Tuesday night at 20:30.

What items can and can’t be imported into the Netherlands
Customs at Schiphol checks to see if there are any prohibited items in your baggage. It is widely known that drugs or weapons are forbidden imports, but there are also strict controls for protected animal and plant species, as well as products made from them. There are also special rules that apply for other items, such as pets, meat, fish and dairy and antiques.
