News: A look ahead at air traffic 5 – 11 October 2020

The number of flights expected next week – 665 – is again slightly lower than in past weeks. The distribution of air traffic over the course of the day will remain more or less the same. There is a consistent pattern of a peak landing time followed by a peak take-off time in the morning and in the evening. The works on the taxiways and entry/exit ways to the south of the Zwanenburgbaan Runway will continue, meaning that we expect the Buitenveldertbaan Runway to be used more frequently as a second runway at peak times during the day. If the Buitenveldertbaan is unavailable, then the Oostbaan Runway may be used as a second runway. Download the full fact sheet on the website bezoekbas.nl.

Peak times in the morning and evening

In the week of 5 – 11 October, we expect the peak moments to be around the following times:

Take-off:

  • between 09:20 and 11:00 in the morning;
  • between 20:20 and 21:20 in the evening.

Landing:

  • between 07:20 and 08:40 in the morning;
  • between 18:40 and 20:00 in the evening.

A look back at 21 – 27 September

Week 39 saw an average of 716 flights per day, close to our prediction of 730 flights. The Aalsmeerbaan Runway was used more frequently as the main runway due to annual maintenance on the Kaagbaan Runway. At night, the Zwanenburgbaan Runway was used instead of the Kaagbaan. The Buitenveldertbaan Runway and the Oostbaan Runway were occasionally used as secondary runways when the weather conditions – such as downpours and mist – made that necessary.
