Director Corporate Affairs: Kees Boef

I had already worked at Schiphol 20 years ago. Since then, I followed the airport in the news with great interest. Schiphol has undergone enormous development in recent decades. Concurrently, the area surrounding the airport became densely populated. (Those two facts) creates tension sometimes, because how do you find a perfect balance between people, the economy and the environment? t was precisely that question which was an important motivating factor in my return to Schiphol.

It’s unique for a country like the Netherlands to be so well-connected to the rest of the world through Schiphol, and that uniqueness is also important in an international context. We are often part of the social discourse because of the airport’s success and central location. That makes it a special place, but not always easy. Nevertheless, it is important to be an active participant in the discussion. Corporate Affairs is the primary place to contribute to that conversation. We try to bring internal and external parties closer together by offering insights, listening carefully and being open to new ideas.

If you gave me a blank cheque tomorrow, I would jump on a plane to Jakarta, Indonesia. From there, you can discover the best of Java: from Bandung to Yogyakarta and Borobudur. They’re magnificent!
