In June of this year, 6.4 million travelers flew from, to or via Schiphol, representing an increase of 3.8% relative to last year. Whereas normally June is quieter than May, which is a busy holiday period, this year passenger numbers in June were as high as in May.
The number of air transport movements decreased by 1.2% relative to a year ago. This is because there are slightly fewer slots available in this year's summer season. Average aircraft size has increased by an average of 3.5 more seats per air transport movement. The occupancy rate has additionally risen by more than 2.1%, to 88.3%. The number of passengers departing from or arriving at Schiphol grew by 7.2%, while the number of transfer passengers decreased slightly (-1.7%).
