News  ·  13 January 2022Sustainability upgrade for The Base A at Schiphol

A lot of work has been done over the past year to make tower A at The Base office complex more sustainable. Environmentally-friendly LED lights were fitted in the new ceilings and low-temperature induction units were installed. The upgrade also involved a total renovation of the common areas, including the lifts, stairways, pantries, bathrooms and corridors.

A great deal greener

In 2014, The Base office complex was redeveloped and expanded, and towers B and C were given an upgrade. Now it was time to transform The Base A. Along with all the other changes to make it more sustainable, The Base A is now connected to the Central AETS system. Towers B, C and D had previously been linked up to the system. This upgrade means that all towers have been given an A+ energy rating and the use of (fossil) gas has been reduced by around 85%. The towers are a great deal greener as a result.

The Base D is the newest office building and was added to the complex in 2019. It’s a sustainable and fossil gas-free building equipped with Smart Technology. All buildings are connected by a corridor which, just like the atrium, provides office workers at The Base with additional facilities.

Offices at The Base

At the moment, there’s still around 50 m2 to 3,000 m2 of office space available to companies looking for a new office location. Units of varying sizes are up for rent.
