A flag flies above Schiphol’s Panorama Terrace. The occasion is an important milestone in the renovation of Departures 1 and Lounge 1: the topping-out ceremony. The main contractor and the subcontractors got together to celebrate reaching this point in the construction process after five months of hard work.

A lot of space was created
Project manager Michiel van Goor hoisted the flag and named the successes achieved so far in his speech. ‘We have already created a lot of extra space for our travellers through this demolition and construction work.’ He also emphasised the excellent cooperation and he thanked all stakeholders for their efforts in making this project possible.
On the roof of the new staff restaurant
Construction on Departures 1 & Lounge 1 topped out on the roof of the new staff restaurant. This is where the contractor will also build the Business Class lounges for Swissport and Star Alliance, a new catering establishment, an updated conference centre and a new entrance with stairways and lifts at the Panorama Terrace. This will all be completed in the first half of 2019.
