Airport IT Services is part of the IT organization of Schiphol Group. We are about 40 colleagues in five teams. Our primary goal is to deliver vital data services for Schiphol to keep passengers, baggage, cargo and planes flowing seamlessly to, from and through the airport. We achieve this by building and maintaining a wide variety of core functions. A new addition to our ESB and interfaces are API’s. This strategy allows us to improve our customer journey.

These API’s are developed by your direct colleagues in the API team. In our API support team we take care of a safe and structured way of using the API’s. With our Self-Service platform in Openshift, we are able to realize a containerized platform in a multi cloud environment. This platform is based on Docker and Kubernetes. Overall, this means we can easily upscale our API services whenever needed. One of our main goals is to minimize our time-to-market, which is further enhanced by our completely containerized CI/CD workflow.
What will you be working on?
As a developer you are responsible for building, implementing and maintaining our API’s. As well as for developing and automating existing API’s in Openshift and 3Scale. All API’s are exposed via our API platform based on Nginx and 3Scale.
Your daily work involves for example: configuring the API platform, preparing ESB components and building API’s for the Operational Flights API and Waiting Times API, extending the Beacons API with relevant data and cleaning the Elasticsearch.
You will be working on functionality that has a real impact on the operation of the airport, and which is very visible inside and outside the organization. You work together with colleagues who have high standards in delivering quality and innovation in their work.
Because we are a non-stop operating and supporting department, you will be part of our production team. More concretely, that means that you will be on duty in support shifts on a regular basis (once every 6 weeks).
You have knowledge and a minimum of three years of experience in designing, developing and/or maintaining API’s. You feel comfortable in an Agile organization and find it fun to work together with your colleagues in a Scrum or KANBAN team.
You have a relevant bachelor’s and/or master’s degree;
- You are skilled in Java;
- You are experienced in Docker, Kubernetes and Jenkins;
- Preferably you also have experience with:
- Apache Camel
