Your Christmas present for expectant mothers in Africa
For more than three years, Schiphol has been supporting Amref Flying Doctors by raising funds and calling attention to a healthy and strong Africa. People who are healthy are better able to look after themselves and escape poverty.
During the upcoming festive season, we will once again be calling your attention to this worthy cause and asking for your donation. Amref’s current focus is mainly on obstetric care for expectant African mothers. Because of long queues and fears of infection with the coronavirus, these mothers are afraid to come to the hospital. As a consequence, they have their babies at home without professional supervision. This has unfortunately led to an increased chance of a spike in maternal and infant mortality rates. Moreover, follow-up care is often lacking as well. It does not have to be this way.
We therefore ask for your support for the (obstetric) careworkers and expectant mothers in Africa.
