Rijksmuseum Amsterdam Schiphol
Rembrandt Society’s 125th anniversary
The Rembrandt Society was founded 125 years ago in an attempt to help preserve the nation’s artistic heritage. It was prompted by the imminent sale in 1883 of Jacob de Vos’s collection of drawings. The society succeeded in acquiring a number of sheets for the Rijksmuseum, since when Vereniging Rembrandt’s mission to improve and increase the nation’s public collection has continued from strength to strength. The anniversary is marked by an exhibition at the Van Gogh Museum entitled 125 Great Loves, With Support from the Rembrandt Society.
The Rijksmuseum is one of the leading lenders for the presentation and pays its own tribute to Vereniging Rembrandt with Thanks to Rembrandt! at Rijksmuseum Amsterdam Schiphol.
