National Day of Mourning on Wednesday 23 July
Today has been proclaimed a National Day of Mourning in connection with the crash of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 on 17 July. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is taking part in an appropriately restrained manner. All flags at the airport will be flying at half-mast today, in accordance with protocol. The TV screens inside and outside the terminal will display a special message in Dutch and English. At 4pm there will be one minute of silence, which will be observed in the terminal and at Schiphol Plaza. During this moment of silence, air traffic will be placed 'on hold' for one minute.
