Duty-free and VAT
Purchases made at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol are duty-free. You can be sure of getting the best deal in the Netherlands, whatever your destination.
Buy items at the prices that apply to flights outside the European Union, regardless of your destination. This excludes alcohol and tobacco products, which are subject to sales tax and duties and are therefore priced at the regular retail rate.

Will you be flying to a destination within the European Union to continue your journey to a non-EU country? If so, you don’t need to pay sales tax or duties on tobacco and liquor. In that case, be sure to tell the clerk at the till.
