Applying for a Schiphol Day Pass
The Schiphol Day Pass is intended for people who need to work in a protected area every now and again. Just as every other Schiphol Pass, the day pass features a photo, expiry date, name and a biometric marker (iris scan). The day pass is available exclusively from the Badge Centre.
If you wish to apply for a Schiphol Day Pass you will need the following:
- Certificate of No Objection [Verklaring van Geen bezwaar, VGB] from the Dutch Border Police [Koninklijke Marechaussee]. To apply, either call +31 (0)20 603 8821 or visit the AIVD website. The certificate will be sent to your home address.
- The original, complete and correctly filled-out, unmarked (including correction fluid etc) Schiphol Day Pass application form. The form must be faxed to the Badge Centre before 10:00 a.m. at least one working day before your planned visit. Please take the original application form with you to collect your Schiphol Day Pass.
- A valid form of ID: a passport or national identity card. A driver’s license is not considered a valid form of ID at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
- The Security Awareness certificate plus, depending on the authorisations you are applying for, the Airside Safety Test. The tests will be administered at the Badge Centre.
Handing in and deactivating your Day Pass
In most cases you are not required to return the Schiphol Day Pass after use; a chip will deactivate the pass by remote control once it has expired. The Day Pass is valid for a period of five years and therefore does not have to be returned until the expiry date. You are required to return the Day Pass only if you no longer need to be at Schiphol within the next five years.
Reactivation
The Badge Centre can activate the Schiphol Day Pass for 10 working days per calendar quarter. The Badge Centre can only activate your pass under orders from your employer or the principal with functional necessity. If you wish to reactivate your Schiphol Day Pass, please fax the application form to the Badge Centre before 13:00 at least one working day before your planned visit. If your visit is an operational necessity, the Badge Centre will activate your pass for the requested period.
Applying for a new pass
You must request a new Schiphol Day Pass if:
- The pass needs to be redesigned (as a result of an authorisation change)
- You work for a new employer
- Your pass has expired
