Amsterdam Economic Board
The Amsterdam metropolitan region holds all the trumps needed to secure its position as an innovative and economically robust region. The strong clusters based here can cement the region’s role as a national and international pioneer. Making the most of this wealth of potential hinges on good working relationships between local government, knowledge institutions and the business community. These sectors have now teamed up to take steps to bolster the regional economy by establishing the Amsterdam Economic Board.
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol CEO Jos Nijhuis leads the Board’s Logistics core group, whose focus is on strengthening Amsterdam’s Mainport function. Working closely with partners ranging from the Port of Amsterdam and Flora Holland to the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, University of Applied Sciences (HvA), the Board is hammering out concrete proposals to reinforce our profile as a Mainport.
Connecting, speeding and strengthening logistics flows around Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is the focus of the Board’s first project – Seamless Connections – about which more details will follow shortly. Another priority includes the long-term employment market, which will be tackled in a project with the Regional Training Centres (ROC) and the HvA.
