Schiphol’s Aviapartner to handle transport of sweeping arms to help BP oil clean up efforts

The Dutch government has sent three rigid sweeping arms to the USA to help clear up the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Aviapartner Cargo was responsible for the handling of the heavy equipment.

The rigid sweeping arms can be attached to ships and collect the oil. Depending on the weather conditions, the booms can clean up to 350 cubic metres of oil an hour. The arms were used earlier to help clear up oil spills off the coast of France (Prestige) and Spain (Erica).
