Round-table meeting for pharma sector India
In the last week of March, the Mayor of Amsterdam, Mr Eberhard van der Laan, headed a trade mission to India. During their stay in Mumbai, the economic centre of India, the focus of the delegation was to attract Indian businesses to the Netherlands. The forty business representatives that travelled to Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore held meetings with companies from various industrial sectors, ranging from automotive, pharmaceutical, financial and IT.
As part of the trade mission, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, AmsterdaminBusiness, Bioport Europe and the Holland International Distribution Council (all partners of the Amsterdam Logistics Life Sciences team) organised a successful round-table meeting for the pharmaceutical industry in Mumbai.
Pharmaceutical companies and freight forwarders stated their preference for rerouting their supply chain for pharmaceuticals destined for Europe and the Americas via Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. In addition, they requested additional airfreight capacity between Mumbai and Amsterdam.
Besides the visit to Mumbai, the Amsterdam Logistics Life Sciences team visited Hyderabad Airport and its pharma facilities. An increase in airfreight capacity between Hyderabad Airport and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol was discussed as well as future cooperation between Hyderabad and Schiphol.
