LoadCode optimises KLM payload

KLM has chosen LoadCode to optimise the payload of its cargo fleet. The software-based solution developed in the Netherlands will enable KLM to generate considerable fuel savings as well as reduce CO2 emissions.

In addition, substantial logistics time and efficiency gains will be made: LoadCode can produce an optimum payload plan in a matter of seconds. Preparing payload plans for full-freighter wide-body aircraft is a complex operation because there are a huge number of variables. The way in which a cargo aircraft is loaded has a huge impact on safety and fuel consumption. Cargo aircraft pilots are required to comply with IATA international regulations, the aircraft constructor’s regulations and the company’s own regulations but within that framework huge gains can still be made as a result of having an optimum payload plan. LoadCode, developed by the Dutch company Key Codes, is an algorithm that can generate an optimum payload plan in an extremely short time. This saves load controllers a great deal of time. As a result of automatically finding the right division between the payload and weight, fuel savings of up to one per cent can easily be achieved.
