E-day @ AMS a huge success
The E-day @ AMS, E-freight event, held on 1 November was a resounding success. A total of 145 participants from all areas of the supply chain around the world attended the programme at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Speakers offered a multitude of ideas and initiatives to encourage businesses to transform their operations into e-operations. Download the presentation here.
The commitment on the AMS-SIN and AMS-HKG trade lanes is important for Schiphol.
Air France-KLM and Cathay Pacific made the commitment to commence E-airwaybill shipments from the first quarter of 2011, and other initiatives are meanwhile being undertaken. The four participants representing Russian home carrier VolgaDnepr/AirBridge expressed their interest in e-freight and plan to implement e-freight on their trade lane.
Steps
Saskia van Pelt, e-Freight Programme Manager at Schiphol, received positive feedback. She said: “The most valuable comment I received was: ‘the timing is perfect; I will definitely talk to my customers at the Air Cargo Forum about introducing e-freight’.
I believe we have made great progress at this event,” she added. E-freight is gaining more and more attention. Now, let’s start paperless shipping!”
