The tickets are falling from the sky
EasyJet celebrated their two new destinations from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to Madrid and Rome in a unique way!
Between 1000 and 2000 people gathered at the Jan Dellaert Square at Schiphol to see the launch of an orange EasyJet zeppelin. The zeppelin was filled with 1000 paper planes. Why all the fuss for a few paper planes? The zeppelin also carried 20 paper planes with free airplane tickets!
Elisabeth Legall from EasyJet: ‘Today was all about the launch of 1000 paper planes, to celebrate our 2 new destinations. We have done this once before in France and I have to admit two things. The first is that the Dutch are far better organised. They came equipped with bags and umbrellas to catch the paper planes, falling from the sky. The second is that Dutch people are more fanatic and maybe more enthusiastic to actually catch the winning planes!’
The EasyJet promotion resulted in a lot of attention and rumour around the brand. People were amused and intrigued by the idea of free plane tickets. The launch of the orange zeppelin attracted more than 1000 spectators and it received a lot of media attention.
Several local networks and the national SBS6 network reported on the launch, as well as some local and national papers. The EasyJet celebration was also frequently mentioned on the internet. All the free publicity and the positive responses showed the EasyJet promotion to be a great success!
