The one billionth passenger!

Our billionth passenger arrived with a KLM flight  from John F. Kennedy airport, New York.

Schiphol has shown a growth in passenger numbers for the third quarter of the year in a row. Record months such as July and August are obviously  contributing to this achievement. September showed an increase of 10%. The absolute growth is coming from easyJet for the most part, with new as well as existing destinations. Capacity extensions with other airlines are also reason for this growth.

The billionth passengers was welcomed in a festive manner. She received several gifts to mark this extraordinary moment and received  € 10,000.- to donate to a charity of her choice. Other passengers were also treated to something sweet. Candy bags were  handed out with candies having the number 1,000.000.000 printed on each of them. Numbers consisting of candies only and two meters in height, were located in the very middle of Schiphol Plaza.
