And the winner is
British business travellers have elected Amsterdam Airport Schiphol ‘Best Airport in Europe 2009’! The other nominees in this category were Munich and Zurich.
The ceremony for the Business Traveller Awards was held in London. Birgit Otto, member of the Management Team Aviation, was there to receive this prestigious award on behalf of the Schiphol Group.
The United Kingdom is, next to homeland the Netherlands, the most important market for Schiphol. During the first 6 months of 2009, 3.2 million passengers travelled from the UK to Schiphol.
Birgit Otto: ‘We are very proud to be awarded this remarkable price by the British business travellers. To be granted this award, especially during these difficult times and with this competitive market, we feel is of enormous value. This will stimulate us to further optimise the travelling process, by creating innovative solutions. We will also continue the offering of marketing support to airline companies and we will not raise our airport fees.’
This next winter shift, running from 24 October 2009 until 27 March 2010, there will be 9 airline companies active between the UK and Schiphol. These companies are KLM, British Airways, VLM Airlines, BMI, BMI Baby, EasyJet, Flybe, Aer Lingus and Jet2.com. They will execute a total of 150 flights a day during the winter shift.
